The Beckley Building in Athens, Ohio, is a historic building located in the heart of downtown. It dates back to the late 19th century, a typical brick commercial building similar to many downtown areas throughout the United States. The Beckley Building served various purposes over the years, such as housing retail stores, offices, and apartments- one of it's tenants from the 1940s through the early 1970s was Blackmore's Restaurant.
Currently, The College Book Store of Athens has grown enough to take over the entire first floor of the building.
The matchbook that was the inspiration for this design is from the 1940s, and advertises their homemade ice cream.
