The 620 Club operated at 620 Hennepin from the 1930s until 1971. Renowned for its roasted turkey, the 620 Club billed itself as "Where Turkey Is King" and was owned by Ernie Fliegel (who was also a boxer), Max Winter, and Henry Winter.

During this period, Max Winter brought major league basketball and football to the city as founder of the Minneapolis Lakers (Fliegel was a silent partner) in 1947 and the Minnesota Vikings in 1960.

The only reason I know any of this is because of Fliegel's grandson:  he bought one of these from me and was happy to tell me a little of the history. Which was great; I only had the logo because I thought a restauarant dedicated to turkey was pretty unusual, and I was glad to get the backstory!

The matchbook used for this shirt is from the 1930s.
